Reporting an error in a page

This is the most useful thing you can send. If something here is factually wrong, out of date, or contradicts what you have observed on a real machine, say so. Helpful details:

• Which page, and which section.
• What it says, and what you believe is correct.
• Anything that supports it - vendor documentation, a debugger output, your own reproducible testing.

Corrected pages get an updated revision date. Nothing gets quietly edited to look like it was always right.

Requesting a stop code

If a code is not covered yet, send it. Requests genuinely affect what gets written next, and the codes people actually hit are more useful to cover than the ones that merely exist in the documentation.

Why individual diagnosis is not offered

Diagnosing an intermittent hardware fault by email does not work. It needs the logs, the crash history, and usually the ability to swap parts. Anyone who offers to identify your faulty component from a single screenshot is guessing, and a wrong guess here costs you a component.

What the pages on this site aim to do instead is give you the same diagnostic path a competent technician would follow, so you can run it yourself with the machine in front of you.
